Day 4

Day 4

My final day in Norrland and I'm already missing it. Even though it was down to -14 in Vännäs and Vindeln, it didn't feel so cold; mostly likely because of the fact that snow was present, unlike Stockholm...

I decided to wake up early in Umeċ, 05:15 I think it was and walked to the city bus station, Vasaplan to get some morning shots.

About two hours later, the rush hour started and I photographed it fast and went for Skellefteċ afterwards. The ironic thing here is that this is something that is not everyday in Umeċ, i.e. two SL-colored buses in Umeċ. They are (were) here since Veolia, the operator of the local bus service in Umeċ, had shortage in buses. From June this year, it will be Swebus running here in Umeċ, for better or worse...

As said earlier, I went directly for Skellefteċ, took the slower bus to Skellefteċ about one hour before planned and got to Skellefteċ about 50 minutes earlier than planed. The main goal in Skellefteċ was to photograph the biogas buses you see in this picture.

This is just so typical Norrland, something that I just love. Buses are used as a mean of transporting passengers as well as goods. Some bus lines have long long pauses along its route so the driver or Bussgods (the company that organizes all this) would have time to load.

The 16:20 rush hour at Skellefteċ. This time I actually managed to get some moving shots, unlike my last visit where it was completely dark.

And finally a picture of two Skelleftebuss at the bus station before I took the bus to Bastuträsk and the night train back down to boring Stockholm...
